For Summer 2023, I served as a lead artist/facilitator at Willowbrook Arts Camp in Tualatin, Oregon during their 40th year! It was exciting to work with artists who had attended or taught at the camp for decades, or generations!
My role as Puppetry Tent lead/specialist meant I was responsible for:
Daily programming for 40-hour camp weeks in my section of the camp, for 7 weeks of camp;
Planning engaging and approachable craft activities for youth ages 8-18 to come through my area and work on projects as desired;
Design, painting, and puppet design support for 5 drama productions during the summer, while engaging groups of youth in large-scale projects for those productions;
Mentorship and leadership training for camper counselors-in-training, ages 14-18.

Bob Applesauce, a sock puppet, wearing a needle felted crown made for him by a camper.

Bob quickly became our camp mascot, fueling much controversy and debate about monarchy and goverment.
